These are 3 prong hair forks made from Bocote Wood.
Bocote has a yellowish brown body with dramatic dark brown to almost black stripes. Colour tends to darken with age but doesn’t distract from the beauty of this wood.
Often used for fine furniture, cabinetry, veneer, musical instruments, gunstocks, turned objects, and other small specialty wood items.
The grain patterning can be quite striking as can be seen in these hair forks. Most species come from Mexico and Central/South America, though certain species occur in Africa.
